School Districts and Educational Service Agencies

There are four school districts within the township. Otsego Public Schools and Plainwell Community Schools are a part of the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency (AAESA). Parchment School District and Gull Lake Community Schools are a part of the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA).

Parchment School District – UPDATE

The Township has signed a one-year agreement for summer tax levy collection services with the Parchment School District.  Parchment is collecting 50% of their annual school taxes on the summer 2025 tax bill and 50% on the winter 2025 tax bill.  In previous years the Township collected 100% of the school taxes for Parchment on the winter tax bill.

This change was requested by the Parchment School District and any questions should be directed to 269-488-1050.

State Education Tax (SET)

State Education Tax (SET) is collected on summer tax bills.  This tax is separate from any local school bond, community college, or voted mill issue.  Property owners are assessed 6 mills for SET.

Plainwell, Otsego and Gull Lake School District residents, who reside in Cooper Charter Township, are served by the Ransom District Library.

Parchment School District residents, who reside in Cooper Charter Township, are served by the Parchment Community Library.
